I am Maz Downer, a Level 3 qualified personal trainer, Sports and Exercise Scientist, an Elite level hockey player for over 25 years and a PE teacher for 20 years.

Based in Mortimer, Berkshire, Shift-It Fitness provides Exercise Classes and mobile Personal Training (PT) sessions.

WHY ARE WE CALLED SHIFT-IT FITNESS?

During the depths of lockdown in 2020 the brand Shift-It Fitness emerged. Housebound, my husband, no longer having to commute, found time to start exercising routinely for the first time in years, with a 20 minute workout every morning. “I am trying to shift it” he said to me one morning laughing and pointing to his business lunch belly! And from this quip the Shift-It Fitness brand was founded.

  • Shift-It Fitness is about shifting your mindset to create a positive mental attitude, a can-do attitude, a ‘this girl can’ attitude.  
  • Wellbeing and mental resilience are at the heart of what I want you to achieve, setting you up to be ready… ready to take on life.
  • Shift-It implies movement, movement to achieve a goal, movement to improve health and wellbeing.
  • Shift-It implies getting a move on, hustle, pace, tempo. 
  • Shift-It implies targeted weight loss.
  • Shift-It implies body reshaping… be that losing inches, gaining muscle definition, or feeling better in your clothes.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE CONSULTATION?

Your free 30 minute consultation will be conducted face-to-face at a mutually convenient time, or if within a 15 minute drive of Shift-It Fitness HQ where I will ask structured questions to begin to understand what outcomes you want to achieve. Adhering to the General Data Protection Regulations I will collect various biodata that you are comfortable to provide (e.g., measurements, lifestyle, nutrition, diet), any relevant medical information, past or current injuries and establish your ability to commit time, logistics, location, clothing, what to bring, and any pertinent constraints. 

Afterwards, I will provide the responses back to you by email for your verification and revision then we can discuss payment and finally get you ready for your first Shift-It Fitness session!
